Quality Coaching

Helping Students Navigate the Journey from Education to Career

Read time

A successful transition from postsecondary education into employment starts long before graduation. Connecting learning to students’ career development at each step in their path from education to employment strengthens students’ ability to make informed choices, follow through on their plans, and achieve their goals.

This national overview of student experiences defines quality education-to-career coaching as consisting of three elements: guidance, timely information, and support. Unfortunately, only 20 percent of recent graduates of public four-year institutions experienced the kind of coaching that encompasses these three elements.

Students’ experiences across these elements also vary, and in this report, we examine the experiences of recent graduates. The report also offers insights to leaders, practitioners, and others seeking to improve students’ career outcomes.
